Honoré des Prés, a fairy tale for grown-ups

He sounds like a real person, Honoré des Prés. However he is pure fantasy, sprung from the brain of Christian David, creator of one of the most interesting new brands on the fragrance scene. Honoré comes from the Parisian Rue Faubourg Saint Honoré – and des Prés from the Café de Flore at Saint-Germain-des-Prés, his favourite meeting place while developing the fragrance line.

Christian David had worked with international marketing at Dior for eight years in close cooperation with Hedi Slimane, when he changed over to become marketing director for the nature-based brand Sisley and something changed within him. He was immediately attracted by this botanical universe. "I love to live in a capital, but in my everyday life I need the contrast that a very nature-inspired fragrance can provide", he explains. From that need grew the inspiration for the organic Honoré des Prés fragrance line.

The fragrances are the work of a classic perfumer, Olivia Giacobetti. She created Honoré des Prés with certified organic ingredients only – which left her with the challenge to work with about 200 possible ingredients instead of the 2000 which are the normal working base for the perfumer.

Olivia Giacobetti is one of a few rare specialized independent perfumers, working from her own studio. If you are a fragrance connoisseur, you may know some of her other famous creations, like Hiris for Guerlain, or the many fragrances she has created for L’Artisan Parfumeur and Dyptique.

There is no doubt that Honoré des Prés writes fragrance history. The line even scored the Wallpaper "Best new grooming product" award earlier this year.
