Body Parts & Conditions That Can Be Treated With Vaser Liposuction

Vaser Liposuction is a type of ultrasonic-assisted liposuction technique. It uses ultrasound wave energy to emulsify stubborn fat before removing the melted fat tissues via suction. This is a targeted and gentler process as compared to traditional liposuction.

Launched in 2007, Vaser Liposuction can produce smooth body contouring results. It can be carried out on multiple areas of the body. Below is a non-exhaustive list of areas and conditions that can be addressed with this procedure.

Saddlebags (Outer thighs) & Inner thighs

The outer and inner thighs are areas where stubborn fat is known to accumulate and is hard to get rid of. For example, women with a particular genetic predisposition to have a pear body shape are susceptible to excess fat stored in these areas.

The pear body shape is characterised by large hips, which are wider than the bust and shoulders, making it difficult to fit into jeans, skirts or shorts. A sedentary lifestyle, poor dietary habits and estrogen dominance are also known causes.

Vaser Liposuction can reduce the fat volume on the outer thighs, inner thighs and knees and significantly improve the leg silhouette. It can create an “elongating” effect and improve the proportions of the lower extremities.

Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) After Cryolipolysis/Fat Freeze

Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that works by crystallising and disintegrating fat cells. Crystalised fat cells eventually leave the body as waste, resulting in marginal fat reduction in the treated area.

Its non-invasive nature is one of the many benefits which has increased its popularity as a fat reduction method among those seeking help. In most cases, patients encountered only mild side effects, such as post-treatment redness and mild swelling.

One serious side effect, although rare but not uncommon, is known as "Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia" (PAH), or in layman's terms, is known as the "stick of butter" effect. Instead of gradually shrinking, the treated area after fat freezing increases in size. It becomes firmer than surrounding tissues, resembling a "stick of butter" appearance that resembles the shape of the fat freeze applicator.

Liposuction is the only remedial option.

Muffin Top

The name may invoke a delectable pastry, but the inference is far from desirable for many. Muffin top is arguably one of the more dreaded physical appearances, and rightly so as it is hard to conceal and eliminate. Hormonal changes are a huge cause, particularly among women, who seem more susceptible to this condition.

The ageing process causes a decrease in estrogen, which in turn causes a woman to store (more) fat in the abdominal area – a notoriously problematic area for men. As mentioned, muffin tops are hard to rid of despite the number of sit-ups and other forms of exercises that a person does.

Bingo Wings

We all know about the unflattering 'bingo wings'. They are loose flesh that hangs from the upper arms and wobbles as we move our arms around. They are the reason we shy away from sleeveless tops and why we always pose with our hands on our waist for photos. There are many reasons why people have bingo wings. Genetics is one of the reasons. Some people are predisposed to them because the areas under their arms are more susceptible to fat growth.

The other common factor is ageing. As skin loses elasticity as one age, it can appear saggier, and this happens to the skin on all parts of our body, including the underside of our arms. The annoying thing about bingo wings is that even a person of healthy weight may have them.

Banana Rolls

Another equally misleading moniker is the banana rolls. These are crescent-shaped fat folds that appear under the buttocks. It can happen to anyone regardless if they are overweight or otherwise. An individual can seek a fix in the form of exercise, diet, and so on, but banana rolls are not easily eliminated.

Pseudogynecomastia

Pseudogynecomastia is the accumulation of excess fat in the male chest area. In pseudogynecomastia, the first line of treatment recommendation is weight management and exercise. If the chest fat fails to reduce, the next recommended treatment will be through surgical intervention - liposuction

Lipoma

A lipoma is a benign tissue located just beneath the skin. It is composed of fat tissues and is often round or oval-shaped. A lipoma can appear anywhere but is commonly found on areas such as the back, torso, arms, shoulders and neck.

Vaser Liposuction removes unwanted body fat permanently. Following the procedure, it is highly recommended that you do your part to maintain the results. This means adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes adequate physical activity. The procedure removes fat from the targeted body region. However, it does not prevent fat gain, especially if you do not take care of your body. It also does not prevent physical body changes due to the normal ageing process.

Vaser Liposuction can only be done in a MOH-approved Day Surgery or hospital. The liposuction doctor needs to be accredited and certified to perform this procedure.
