Shape, function, sculpture… The 2011 Formex Formidable winner is a designed cookware set of substance, a multifunctional cast iron creation with dual function lids/frying pans. Designer Torkel Dahlstedt and Skeppshults Gjuteri have created a new object of desire for all food-loving aesthetes.

This year’s Guest of Honour, French industrial and product designer Inga Sempé, welcomes visitors to an intimate and cosy environment in Stockholmsmässan’s entrance hall. This is the ninth consecutive year that a prominent international designer will be responsible for creating a lounge at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.
The inaugural winners of Formex's new Nova design award – Hanna Hedman and Simon Klenell – will feature at the exhibition with a display in the entrance hall. This display is part of the prize, which will be awarded annually in connection with the autumn Formex exhibition. Gallery Pascale in Stockholm will also host an exhibition of the award-winners' work for the general public to view.
This spring's Formex ushers in the season with inspiration and trends galore. The event, taking place on 19-22 January 2012, will see the launch of the second edition of Formex's own trend guide Formex Future File No. 2. Visitors will also be treated to future visions and the latest in Swedish handicrafts.
At Formex, 19-22 January 2012, visitors will be transported to a magical snow-covered world. Formex’s combined inspirational exhibition and restaurant has been designed by Note Design Studio this time.
Stockholmsmässan and TMF (Trä- och Möbelföretagen) have formed an ethical council, No Copy, for the forthcoming Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair on 7-11 February 2012. The Council aims to help ensure a high ethical standard among exhibitors and to counteract the occurrence of unauthorised copies of familiar or distinctive products.
Between 19 and 22 January 2012, it will be time for the eighth Young Designers event, Formex's platform for unestablished designers. It will also be the fourth time that Next Step has been organised, the next step to an ordinary stand at Formex.
Designer Monica Förster has been commissioned to design an installation for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, 7-11 February 2012, for the project Hello! – Anatomy of Organizations. The theme this time around is the organization and how it shapes – and will shape – future workplaces.
This spring’s Young Designers Café at Formex will be a creative meeting place for shades of blue, designed by Cecilia Dreyfert. This is the eighth successive time a young Swedish designer will be responsible for creating Young Designers Café, which also incorporates the Young Designers, Next Step zone and a stage area.

The Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, 7-11 February 2012, will for the second year in a row play host to the combined exhibition and talk show Hello! This project has been initiated in order to promote discussion and provide inspiration regarding the modern workplace.
At Formex, which runs from 19 to 22 January 2012, a children's game provides the inspiration for the design of this spring's major trend theme exhibition entitled IN THE MOOD. The visitor is invited to enter a modern architectural barn, where the focus is on light, space, feelings and sensuality.
This year's Mitt kök culinary exhibition broke several records; it was larger than ever before, with more competitions, and more exhibitors, journalists, visitors and personalities from the food and beverage world. A total of 36,880 'foodies' visited the exhibition.
For the eighth year in a row, a Swedish designer or group will be creating the Design Bar at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. This time the commission goes to designer Lina Nordqvist. The focus will be meetings and the basic forms of circles and squares.

Several of Sweden’s foremost chefs will open a restaurant together under Stockholmsmässan’s roof at the ‘Mitt kök’ culinary event on November 10-13. Over four days, visitors will have the chance to see a unique collaboration and sample seven specially-created dishes at Kockarnas Krog (Chefs’ restaurant).
In 2012, furniture and lighting designers of tomorrow will meet fashion designers of the future for the first time in Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s hall for independent designers and design schools.
The world's biggest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design now has a new communicative platform. "This will further strengthen the brand and give us the opportunity to clarify the link between Stockholm Furniture Fair, Northern Light Fair and Stockholm Design Week," says Event Manager Cecilia Nyberg.
