London Sales Execs Applaud Brands for Evolving the Selection Process to Identify the Right Candidates

Companies are evolving their recruitment process, ditching the traditional CV application method in favour of behaviour focused strategies, in an attempt to attract diverse talent and London Sales Execs is applauding their ingenuity.

London Sales Execs: About the firm

The sales specialists were happy to read the article on Marketing Week which explained that companies are waking up to the fact that diversity is integral to delivering the best products and services and that the traditional recruitment method is preventing companies from attracting people from a variety of backgrounds.

Goldman Sachs and Unilever are two companies that are utilising advancing technology, tapping into Artificial Intelligence to match graduates to the right roles within their business. Questions pop-up on a screen and applicants are asked to film their answers. Algorithms then scan the videos, analysing the words used, how confidently the sentiment is expressed and how concisely the argument is presented. Unilever also uses tech to match applicants to the right job.

Retail bank, First Direct is focusing on personality by adopting an unconventional methodology, by hosting speed dating ‘cocktails and careers’ evenings at a bar in Leeds, the city of its head office. The informal setting allows the firm’s recruitment team to discover more about candidates’ personalities. The First Direct team explain more about the company and the roles on offer, before embarking on a speed dating session, giving candidates the chance to chat with the managers. After the speed dating session ends, the recruitment team invites the potential recruits to get involved in a cocktail making demonstration. The unique strategy has seen First Direct make several hires.

Telecoms giant O2 has moved away from traditional assessment days when it comes to graduate recruitment. The firm now focuses on testing problem solving and creative thinking via ‘escape room’ type activities. The firm claims that by evolving their recruitment process and not using CVs, it helps to remove red tape and give candidates the best opportunity to demonstrate their “enthusiasm and passion”.

At London Sales Execs they look beyond the CV to see the person. They believe that personality and attitude are vital indicators of someone’s ability to fit in with their company. Managing Director, Tom Harris is delighted that other companies are now ditching the traditional CV selection method in favour of more personality focused strategies.
