London Sales Execs publish how to guide for public speaking

Following a recent speaking engagement at an industry Regional Conference, Managing Director at London Sales Execs Tom Harris has shared his top tips for becoming an accomplished public speaker.

London Sales Execs: About the firm

The mere thought of public speaking can strike fear into people, and induce sweaty palms. Public speaking is a common fear, known as Glossophobia. Tom Harris of London Sales Execs is an experienced public speaker, and the award-winning entrepreneur has shared what he believes to be the key to successful public speaking.

1. Confidence

“Even if you’re terrified, don’t show it. Act confident and eventually you’ll feel it,” commented Mr Harris. The London Sales Execs director believes that speaking with confidence is one of the cornerstones of public speaking success. The business coach and mentor contends that when someone exudes confidence, people pay more attention.

2. Structure

Every effective presentation should consist of an introduction, short story, presentation, close and rehash. Mr Harris argues that speeches must have a structure to have the greatest impact on an audience.

3. Don’t Read Notes

The greatest public speakers maintain eye contact with the audience, and that’s impossible to do if someone is reading notes. Mr Harris argues that if people are reading notes, it breaks the connection with the audience and the speech loses impact.

4. Make it Personal

Mr Harris believes that the most influential speakers, make it personal. “Sharing a personal story, allows the audience to engage and connect.” The entrepreneur believes that an audience will remember stories more than facts and figures.

5. Practice

As with any skill, the more someone practices, the better they will become. Practice makes perfect. At London Sales Execs, public speaking is one of the skills they teach their sales representatives, and they do this by providing multiple opportunities to practice the craft. “The more you do something, the easier it becomes,” states Mr Harris.

Director at London Sales Execs, Mr Harris believes that becoming an accomplished public speaker is integral to business success. “Having the ability to stand up in front of a crowd, and motivate and inspire people with words, is an invaluable skill,” stated Mr Harris.

London Sales Execs is on a mission to change the way sales is perceived. They are a diverse group with one common goal: achieve the best possible outcome for clients through meaningful, face-to-face connections, delivered by its force of talented customer communicators.
