Prolific 'gutter-glam' rockers Subsonics get homaged on Various Artists tribute LP featuring Kid Congo Powers and NYC's Disturbios

Brazilian garage-punk label Mandinga Records pays yet another fine homage to Atlanta’s storied gutter-glam, minimal rock trio Subsonics (who have released 8 albums) with the forthcoming release of You Didn't Think We Could Take It, Volume 2, with 12 artists from around the world giving their sonic props from the group's prolific career and back catalog.

The first part of the tribute came out in 7" at the beginning of 2020 and Volume 2 boasts a more exotic and eclectic curation and contribution of some of Subsonics' best gems.

The latest single and video released from NYC's Disturbios, for example, gives See Thru Rhonda a minimal synth and dada-esque makeover.

The duo at the center of Disturbios, Matt and Rocío Verta-Ray, describe the song as: “Trailer park hijinks. A loaded pistol, a no-good boyfriend but Rhonda takes the consequences.”
