Soon to surface: World of Volvo

World of Volvo, a vibrant meeting place where visitors from near and afar can meet, experience, create and get inspired, will soon be visible.

In the beginning of 2021, the first excavators started digging for the foundations right in the middle of Gothenburg’s main destination area. Now, the underlying parking deck is taking shape and soon it’s time for the spectacular building to start mushrooming above ground.

World of Volvo is a statement and an investment by Volvo Group and Volvo Cars.

The 22,000 sqm landmark will be an arena where something interesting always is going on, from exhibitions, meetings and performances to cafés, fine dining and customer deliveries. Here our visitors will be able to participate in activities that live and breathe the human-centric Scandinavian soul of the Volvo brand.

“The joint Volvo purpose is to continuously reimagine mobility for people, businesses and society at large. Our solutions drive sustainability and safety - for people by people,” says Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of Volvo Group.

The building is planned to be finished late 2023, the final year of Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary celebrations and opening in early 2024.

“In our hometown, World of Volvo will be the place to experience Volvo´s strong heritage and future. It should be an active meeting place contributing to the development of a mobile and sustainable society,” says Håkan Samuelsson, Chief Executive of Volvo Cars.

The landmark building, which will be radiating Scandinavian design in every beam, is created by Danish Henning Larsen architects, who have previously designed the Copenhagen Opera house.
