Press release -
Lucia Vehicle Parade and “Hjullovet” – Two Winter Experiences for the Whole Family
This December, World of Volvo invites Gothenburg residents and visitors to two atmospheric and playful activities that brighten up the winter darkness: our traditional Lucia Vehicle Parade on Avenyn and the family-friendly holiday program, Hjullovet.
Magical Lucia Vehicle Parade on Avenyn – 12 Unique Christmas-Decorated Vehicles
On 13 December at 17,00, light, joy, and Christmas spirit will fill the streets as Gothenburg’s Lucia leads a sparkling vehicle parade along Avenyn. Twelve vintage vehicles — each individually decorated with different Christmas themes, from classic Lucia to Santa and reindeer — will make their way in procession toward Götaplatsen.
“We want to spread warmth and joy throughout December and the winter holidays. The Lucia Vehicle Parade carries the tradition forward in a new and playful way,” says Viktoria Wallner, Experience Officer, World of Volvo.
The parade concludes at Götaplatsen with an atmospheric concert at 17,30, where visitors will be greeted by choir singing, twinkling lights, and a magical ambience surrounded by the city’s iconic landmarks.
Hjullovet – A Creative Holiday Break for the Whole Family (21 December – 10 January)
From 21 December to 10 January, World of Volvo opens its doors to Hjullovet — a holiday programme filled with creativity, play, and togetherness for children and families. With an exhibition ticket, visitors gain access to:
• 20 square meters of LEGO® bricks for free building and creative exploration
• A jump-equipped racetrack where children can test-drive their custom-built LEGO® vehicles
• A collaborative LEGO® mosaic artwork created by all visitors together
• Board games and puzzles for play, challenge, and connection
• David Gustafsson’s (from Lego Masters) iconic full-scale LEGO® Volvo V70
• The world's largest truck in LEGO®: join in on David Gustafsson’s next project — a full-size Volvo truck built entirely from LEGO®
“Building together with others is the most fun I know. The project to create a full-size LEGO truck — which will be the world's largest — is something I’m truly passionate about. I hope both children and adults will join in, add their own piece, and help create something completely unique,” says David Gustafsson, winner of Lego Masters 2020.
Viktoria Wallner adds:
“Hjullovet gives families the chance to be creative and have fun together — a perfect way to end the year.”
