FIA WEC: Mikkel Jensen braced for tough Texas challenge
Mikkel Jensen heads to Circuit of the Americas this weekend for round six of the FIA World Endurance Championship, looking to build on Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ best result of the season so far.
The Danish driver, alongside Paul Di Resta and Jean-Éric Vergne, will return to action after the summer break, aiming to carry momentum from July’s race in Brazil, where Peugeot secured seventh and sixth places with its two Hypercars.
“It’s great to be back in the World Championship after almost two months away. We come with good momentum from Brazil, and the target is simply to maintain it and bring home another points finish,” said Jensen.
COTA has proven a difficult venue in the past, with the No. 93 Peugeot finishing 12th there last year. The 5.5-kilometre F1 circuit is known for its steep climb to Turn 1, flowing high-speed corners and bumpy surface – conditions that put pressure on both car and tyres.
“It’s not exactly our favorite track. It’s hard on the tyres, and the extreme heat at this time of year also played a role in why we couldn’t keep up last season. Hopefully we can use the data and experience we gained to be stronger this time,” Jensen added.
The Lone Star Le Mans begins with practice on Friday, September 5, followed by qualifying on Saturday. The six-hour race goes green on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. local time (GMT -5), live on FIA WEC TV.
