    Being knowledgeable about drinks can have a larger impact on profitability than the VAT reduction in the restaurant industry. Therefore, the beverage trade fair, Vinordic, which will be held May 6-9, will further develop its Vinordic School concept in order to be able to provide the tools that are needed for improved profitability behind the bar.

    Gastronomic Week will be held for the third time in Stockholm between May 5 and 10. In conjunction with the GastroNord and Vinordic food and beverage fairs that are taking place at Stockholmsmässan, the general public is also offered a week of food-related events and activities around town. This year the party has an extra dimension; the Bocuse d´Or Europe chef Championship.

    On Friday, May 9, the GastroNord food fair, which will be held May 6-9, will turn its focus to cafés, pastry shops, bakeries and students with a number of activities. For example, Sweden’s best barista for 2014 and Student Chef of the Year will be announced.

    On May 6–9, 2014 the doors will be open for Vinordic and GastroNord, Northern Europe's largest trade fairs in HoReCa. This year the fairs are packed with new concepts and are focusing on knowledge. The Bocuse d´Or Europe chef championship will be held simultaneously at Stockholmsmässan

    The Vinordic Wine Challenge, Sweden’s only EU-certified wine competition, has selected this year’s best wines. Almost 700 wines competed in 37 classes, within ten different flavour types. Within each category, a gold, silver and bronze winner is then named. These are Sweden’s best-value wines.

  • Chef of the Year restaurant brings together Sweden’s top chefs at GastroNord

    GastroNord, 24-27 April, will see the launch of the Chef of the Year restaurant. The menu at this temporary pop-up restaurant will be devised by the Chef of the Year Association, including contributions from Klas Lindberg, Tommy Myllymäki and Markus Aujalay, all winners of the Chef of the Year title.

  • Hear about the world’s oldest drinkable champagne, plus grappa, wine and beer at Vinordic

    Next week sees the launch of the Vinordic School (25-27 April), which features a whole host of talks. Visitors can learn about the tasting and re-corking of the bottles of champagne found in a shipwreck in the Åland Archipelago. At the fair, there will also be wine tasting and glass testing with Gaja and Riedel, as well as beer tasting with brewmaster Garrett Oliver.

  • All about rosé and champagne at Vinordic

    At Vinordic, 25-27 April, which takes place alongside GastroNord at Stockholm International Fairs, visitors will get the opportunity to find out everything there is to know about rosé and champagne. Experts will be on hand at the Rosé Wine Tasting and Josephine Edelskog’s Champagne Bar to offer advice and tips.

  • School Cook of the Year, Electrolux Nordic Challenge and Swedish Pizza Championships

    The School Cook of the Year (Årets skolkock), the Electrolux Nordic Challenge (Nordisk kocklandskamp), Sharpest Chef (Vassaste kocken), Sweden’s best value wines and much more will be decided at GastroNord and Vinordic, which will bring together the hotel, restaurant, catering and fast food industries at Stockholm International Fairs week beginning 16 April.

  • Turning up the heat at GastroNord and Vinordic

    Week 17 sees the main event of the year within the hotel, restaurant and catering industry, when GastroNord (24-27 April) and Vinordic (25-27 April) are held at Stockholmsmässan. This year’s fairs will attract the culinary élite from Sweden, Finland and Norway. There will also be all manner of new features, including the new Chef of the Year area.

  • Vinordic School and ice champagne bar

    Vinordic, Northern Europe’s biggest trade fair for beers, wines, spirits and ciders, will be held on 25-27 April. Visitors will be able to experience the new Vinordic School, a champagne bar made from ice and the Vinordic Rosé Wine Tasting Bar. Alongside Vinordic, GastroNord will also be held at Stockholmsmässan.

  • Mitt kök culinary exhibition sets yet another record

    This year's Mitt kök culinary exhibition broke several records; it was larger than ever before, with more competitions, and more exhibitors, journalists, visitors and personalities from the food and beverage world. A total of 36,880 'foodies' visited the exhibition.

  • Success when the best wines in Sweden were chosen

    More than 800 wines competed in 38 different classes, setting a new record when the Vinordic Wine Challenge took place in Stockholm in April. Gold, silver and bronze winners were named for each different type of wine, and you can find the most affordable wines in Sweden here.

  • Stockholmsmässan and Mässrestauranger sponsor world championship for chefs

    Stockholmsmässan and Mässrestauranger have entered into a joint venture to promote world-class Swedish cooking. The companies will be supporting Swedish participation in the Bocuse d’Or, a prestigious competition that can be likened to a world championship for chefs, through a three-year gold sponsorship agreement.
