As Gastronord 2024 kicked off with a press conference on Tuesday morning, it did so with a strong focus on the future, sustainability, skills development, and industry advancement. Additionally, they announced the significant news that Gastronord, previously held biennial, will now become an annual event due to high demand from industry professionals.
Sweden Foodtech together with Gastronord and Stockholmsmässan are building a global meeting place for the future with a focus on sustainability and innovation with an international touch. The cooperation’s first impact will be 9–11 April 2024 when Sweden Foodtech's leading foodtech conference "Big Meet" moves to Gastronord, the Nordics' largest fair for the professional food sector.
On 3-4 September, GastroSummit – a totally new and unique gastronomic forum – will cater to all tastes at Stockholmsmässan. News, innovation and the food of the future are on the menu. GastroSummit consists of an inspiratonial section and a seminar section highlighting current industry themes. It is at GastroSummit you will hear of it first!
GastroNord & Vinordic at Stockholmsmässan came to a close on Friday last week. These fairs gather together the whole industry for hotels, restaurants, catering, fast food and drink, in order to meet and do business. A total of 360 exhibitors from 21 countries participated, and the fairs attracted more than 20,000 visitors.
GastroNord & Vinordic, northern Europe's most important trade fairs for hotels, restaurants, catering and fast food, will open its doors on April 26. For four days, Stockholmsmässan will be packed with exhibitors, world-class chefs, competitions and seminars. There will be plenty of activities and discussions when the industry gathers to do business and develop its future together.
Several national championships and other competitions will be held at the GastroNord and Vinordic trade fairs. Awards include Sweden's Best Pizza, Student Chef of the Year and Sweden's Best Value Wines. In addition, the first official national championships for Food Trucks and Ice Cream will be held at the exhibition. There will also be a Burger Battle.
This year's GastroNord is focusing on restaurant students by giving them their own day - Friday, April 29. On this day, students will be able to meet representatives from the entire industry and the Student Chef of the Year will be announced.
The restaurant industry’s most important issue – the supply of skilled labor – is in focus at the GastroNord trade fair, which will be held April 26-29, 2016 at Stockholmsmässan. The industry is planning a joint manifesto, and debates, discussions and themed days will be held during the fair.
Stockholmsmässan has become a Gold sponsor for the Swedish participation in Bocuse d’Or, the world's most well-known chef competition. Last week Stockholm was filled with with activities and a gastronomic party as the industry gathered at Stockholmsmässan for the GastroNord and Vinordic exhibitions as well as the Bocuse d’Or Europe chef championships. The party culminated with a gold medal finish for Sweden and Tommy Myllymäki.
The mood at Stockholmsmässan reached the boiling point when Sweden and Tommy Myllymäki took home the victory in the prestigious Bocuse d'Or culinary competition’s European championship on Thursday evening. Implementation of the competition, in the hands of the French organizer GL Events, was also the best ever.
GastroNord, which will be held May 6-9 at Stockholmsmässan, is bubbling with a passion for food and inspiration. The Entrance Hall will be transformed into an interactive kitchen filled with activities, and the fair becomes a meeting place for discussions and inspiring exhibitions. At the same time, the other halls are hosting Vinordic, the beverage trade show, and the Bocuse d´Or Europe.
Being knowledgeable about drinks can have a larger impact on profitability than the VAT reduction in the restaurant industry. Therefore, the beverage trade fair, Vinordic, which will be held May 6-9, will further develop its Vinordic School concept in order to be able to provide the tools that are needed for improved profitability behind the bar.

Gastronomic Week will be held for the third time in Stockholm between May 5 and 10. In conjunction with the GastroNord and Vinordic food and beverage fairs that are taking place at Stockholmsmässan, the general public is also offered a week of food-related events and activities around town. This year the party has an extra dimension; the Bocuse d´Or Europe chef Championship.
On Friday, May 9, the GastroNord food fair, which will be held May 6-9, will turn its focus to cafés, pastry shops, bakeries and students with a number of activities. For example, Sweden’s best barista for 2014 and Student Chef of the Year will be announced.
