    GastroNord & Vinordic at Stockholmsmässan came to a close on Friday last week. These fairs gather together the whole industry for hotels, restaurants, catering, fast food and drink, in order to meet and do business. A total of 360 exhibitors from 21 countries participated, and the fairs attracted more than 20,000 visitors.

There will be plenty of activities and discussions when the industry gathers to do business and develop its future together.

    Several national championships and other competitions will be held at the GastroNord and Vinordic trade fairs. Awards include Sweden's Best Pizza, Student Chef of the Year and Sweden's Best Value Wines. In addition, the first official national championships for Food Trucks and Ice Cream will be held at the exhibition. There will also be a Burger Battle.

    Last week Stockholm was filled with with activities and a gastronomic party as the industry gathered at Stockholmsmässan for the GastroNord and Vinordic exhibitions as well as the Bocuse d’Or Europe chef championships. The party culminated with a gold medal finish for Sweden and Tommy Myllymäki.

    The mood at Stockholmsmässan reached the boiling point when Sweden and Tommy Myllymäki took home the victory in the prestigious Bocuse d'Or culinary competition’s European championship on Thursday evening. Implementation of the competition, in the hands of the French organizer GL Events, was also the best ever.

    Sweden’s best value wine was presented today as the winners of the Vinordic Wine Challenge were announced at the Vinordic fair at Stockholmsmässan. A record number of wines entered Sweden’s only EU-certified wine competition, and new for this year was the addition of two categories for organic wines.

    GastroNord, which will be held May 6-9 at Stockholmsmässan, is bubbling with a passion for food and inspiration.     Gastronomic Week will be held for the third time in Stockholm between May 5 and 10. In conjunction with the GastroNord and Vinordic food and beverage fairs that are taking place at Stockholmsmässan, the general public is also offered a week of food-related events and activities around town. This year the party has an extra dimension; the Bocuse d´Or Europe chef Championship.

    Success as Sweden’s top wines are selected

    The Vinordic Wine Challenge, Sweden’s only EU-certified wine competition, has selected this year’s best wines. Almost 700 wines competed in 37 classes, within ten different flavour types. Within each category, a gold, silver and bronze winner is then named. These are Sweden’s best-value wines.

    Chef of the Year restaurant brings together Sweden’s top chefs at GastroNord

    GastroNord, 24-27 April, will see the launch of the Chef of the Year restaurant. The menu at this temporary pop-up restaurant will be devised by the Chef of the Year Association, including contributions from Klas Lindberg, Tommy Myllymäki and Markus Aujalay, all winners of the Chef of the Year title.

    Hear about the world’s oldest drinkable champagne, plus grappa, wine and beer at Vinordic

    Next week sees the launch of the Vinordic School (25-27 April), which features a whole host of talks. Visitors can learn about the tasting and re-corking of the bottles of champagne found in a shipwreck in the Åland Archipelago. At the fair, there will also be wine tasting and glass testing with Gaja and Riedel, as well as beer tasting with brewmaster Garrett Oliver.
